Projects

Committed to increasing the responsibility and community capacity of organizations to respond to violence against women, Springtide Resources cultivates and participates in a number of community projects and initiatives related to their primary program areas.

These projects include:

Curriculum Development: Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association and Co-operative Housing Association of Canada
This project lead by the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, in partnership with Springtide Resources and the Co-operative Housing Association of Canada, will develop a curriculum for social housing providers on woman abuse issues

Digital Storytelling: Stories Against Violence
This project uses storytelling and mixed media to create educational videos about violence.

Family Law Education for Women
The project aims to inform and empower women by developing and distributing materials featuring the legal information that is most relevant and commonly required by women facing family issues.

Moving on to Success
This is a pilot project to address the employment needs of women who are survivors of abuse, in abusive situations or are at risk of abuse.

New Directions: Working Together Developing Healthy Relationships
This initiative will strengthen Springtide Resources' program delivery and systems so that more Canadians have access to important violence prevention tools that result in healthy equal relationships.

Preventing and Responding to Violence against Women Through Technology Enhanced Education
This project is a four year initiative in partnership with York University, Division of Continuing Education.

Roots of Equality
This initiative will utilize the extensive network of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario to deliver training and resources to educators who have not previously participated in training related to violence against women and girls

Service Coordination for Women with Disabilities
This project focuses on developing and implementing a series of small workshops for attendant services providers on issues related to supporting women living within attendant service projects who are fleeing violence.

Sexuality and Access Project Survey
The survey is part of this two-year project, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The goal of the project is to give Ontarians with disabilities greater control over their lives by providing them and their personal service attendants with the skills and knowledge to protect and develop their sexual health and safety.

Supporting Female Trauma Survivors Living with Disabilities
This project includes the development and implementation of a support group for female trauma survivors living with disabilities and the development of a corresponding training module.

Understanding Family & Immigration Law through E-Learning
This project builds on the work completed through Preventing and Responding to Violence against Women Through Technology Enhanced Education in 2005-2006. Through a province-wide assessment it was determined that front-line staff working with women fleeing violence across Ontario needed accessible and comprehensive training in family, immigration and refugee law.

Weaving a Knowledge Web
The purpose of this project is to improve adult literacy learning outcomes for survivors of violence, including physical, emotional, and sexual violence, in domestic, local, social and global settings.
