National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Dec. 6, 2011
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of what came to be known as the Montreal Massacre. On Dec. 6, 1989, Marc Lepine walked through l’École Polytechnique in Montreal, separated the men from the women, and then proceeded to shoot and kill 14 women while making anti-feminist statements.
Each year, on the anniversary of this sad day, Women’s College Hospital reflects on violence against women and remembers the women who have tragically lost their lives to gender-based violence.
