AODA elearning: Improving Access to Violence Against Women Services (VAW) for Women with Disabilities
The goal of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005), the AODA, is to make Ontario accessible by 2025, through the development and implementation of accessibility standards. Private sector and not-for-profit organizations, including violence against women services must meet the Customer Service Standard by January 2012.
This free AODA elearning course will provide participants with an increased ability to support and advocate for women with disabilities and women who are Deaf who have experienced physical or sexual violence, or criminal harassment, and who are seeking services from your agency.

1. Understanding the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Customer Service Standard
2. Communicating and interacting with people with disabilities
3. Serving persons who use service animals, support persons or assistive devices.
4. Accessibility at your Agency: Developing customer service policies, practices and procedures
This course is targeted at anyone who provides direct service to women who may disclose a history of physical or sexual violence or criminal harassment, such as counselors/therapists, rape crisis centre
workers, victim support workers, settlement workers, health care professionals, and related women’s services workers.
Participants can access the course anytime of day, according to their preferred schedule. Upon completion of the modules, you will receive a certificate of completion.
