In the fall of 2007, the Domestic Violence Advisory Council, which consisted of 15 individuals with expertise on violence against women, was established to provide advice on improving the existing system of supports and services for abused women and their children in Ontario. The Council was asked to provide recommendations that could be achieved by making better use of existing resources and that built on promising practices.

The result was the report, Transforming our Communities: Report from the Domestic Violence Advisory Council for the Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues.
