March 25: Information Session for Building Bridges Across Barriers (Volunteer Training)

Are you interested in volunteering and/or receiving free VAW and anti-oppression training?

If so, our Building Bridges Across Barriers (BBAB) volunteer program will be starting again soon for 2013!

Our goal in BBAB:

To create spaces for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and training using an integrated anti-oppression and feminist approach in addressing violence against women, its impacts on marginalized communities, and the need for systemic change.

Objectives:

  • Discuss areas of oppression faced by marginalized women
  • Identify and share parallels in diverse women’s experiences of oppression
  • Address accessibility, inclusion, and diversity as defined by marginalized women

Some of the topics that will be covered in the workshops include:

  • Violence Against Women
  • Privilege and Power
  • Understanding Internalized Oppression
  • VAW in Deaf, disability, and immigrant communities
  • Building Allies Resistance and Activism

Please join us on Monday, March. 25 from 6-8pm at 215 Spadina Avenue, 4th Floor (Alterna Savings Room) for an information session.  Light refreshments, TTC tokens, and ASL interpretration will be provided.
